In the way way back, back before the advent of a hundred different social media platforms and modular website building programs, back when the internet was young and impressionable, websites were built of sticks, stones, twine and small bits of bone. Like pilgrim homesteaders, these poor pioneers required a specialized caste of ne’er-do-wells to chisel away at the vast empty space of the interweb, creating content in order to drive sales. Artists, musicians, and writers required the specialized skill of a strange race known as “coders” in order to construct neotechnic monstrosities to peddle their wares and create an online presence. These hapless coders, who euphemistically referred to themselves as “cowboys” and “ninjas”, while capable of mimicking remarkably sapient-like speech, communicated in a mysterious language of their own, and therefore required the help of a specialized sect of unappreciated and underpaid untouchables, a cadre of no-account pen pushing hacks known as “copy writers”.
